Mancini’s score to ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ remains a classic. From its exquisite opener (‘Moon River’) through the upbeat jazz of ‘Something For Cat’ and the off-beat playfulness of ‘Mr Yunioshi’ it really is hard to fault. Released in 1961, ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ starred Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, a free-spirited, elegant young woman looking for joy through the windows of Tiffany’s jeweller’s and finding it with a tenant in her New York apartment building played by George Peppard. Though this particular CD release suffers from a lack of liner notes and extras, the score remains a sparkling, uplifting piece of perfection.
